This is the artist's third exhibition in Korea featuring her new paintings, video and installation works. Shim has expressed her perspective of the life and the reality in the manner of candor and sarcasm through her work that arouse sympathy and amusement. Her work consists in translating about ‘being’ through connections she makes between people and objects or incidents. When an interaction triggered from connecting one another is where a quaint sense of humor provokes.

In this exhibition, Shim shows works that graphing a people’s relationship. Most of the works are made up of serial of canvas and is as if each canvas features a scene of a story.  A triangle and a circle appear repetitively in the works and each symbolizes ‘you’ and ‘me’. Two different entities are apart but they are connected to each other by a line. This looks two of them depend on each other in making a balance and seemingly as a scale.  One of the works, a triangle or a circle is drawn exaggeratedly smaller or bigger compared to one another that means  the size varies by a viewpoint of someone seeing the entities. However looking at the whole picture from the top or the bottom, two entities are equal in their relationship. In another work tells that ‘you’ and ‘me’ is the same one in showing a sequence that a circle becomes a triangle and it regenerated into a circle.

Since Shim’s work is seen as a Minimal Art, it can be looked a little cold but in the other hand, it is sentimental. Since we get to know that the triangle is ‘you’ and the circle is ‘me’ in her work, we substitute ourselves to the each entity and a personal emotion causes naturally in the process. Consequently, the triangle and the circle are not just a figure but transformed into things that has a special quality. Like this, Shim’s work induces viewers to see ourselves in a unique perspective. The exhibition ‘You & Me’ renders the artist’s consideration in simplifying humanity to see the basis of the life.
