불의 풍경
나의 작업의 기반은 자연의 추상적 번안에서 출발한다.
순수 무수한 신의 메세지로서의 자연, 그것이 기호화 되고 그 풍경들의 생생함과 충만함은 나의작품 소재가 되었다.
이번 작품의 소재가 되는 이 붉은 꽃은 영혼의 몸부림, 생명의 피어남을 상징한다.
또한 살아있는 자의 몸부림, 생명의 빛과 영혼의 불…..사랑이라 부르고 싶다.
붉은 꽃, 이 생명의 에너지는 대상이 아니라 때로는 풍경으로, 때로는 생생한 살아있는 영혼의 에너지로 그 모든 것이 되고자 하는 강한 열망이자 생명의 소망인 것이다.
붉은 꽃에 대한 작업의 시작은 작은 드로잉에서 시작했다.
꽃을 그리는 것은 한국화를 처음 접했을 때, 수묵으로 국화를 그리기 시작했는데 국화의 모양과 형태를 연구하고 그림을 그리는 사람의 시작과 자세를 배웠던, 가장 기초적이고 반복적인 연습의 대상물이었다.
새삼 이십년이 지나고 내가 가지고 있는 그림 그리기의 성향과 다른 이 불꽃에 관해 작업의 시작은 꽃을 그리던 손의 기억에서 시작한다.
아무것이 떠오르지 않을 때 무심히 그려보았던 꽃이 오랜만에 찾아간 동료의 집에 걸려 있었다.
내가 그 그림을 그에게 선물한 줄도 몰랐던 무심히 그린 붉은 색의 펜드로잉은 봄에 피어나는 새싹처럼 내 마음에 새로운 작업에 대한 열정을 살아나게 만드는 계기가 되었다.
어느새 매일의 시작을 꽃을 그리는 행위를 통해 마음을 가다듬고 다시 화면 앞에 설 수 있는 시작점을 만들고 있었다.
붉은 색에 나의 열정과 사랑을 담았고 하늘색에는 나의 이상과 정신을 담아 천천히 드로잉하며 스스로의 영혼의 생명을 일깨우기 시작했다.
매일 화면앞에서 나의 마음에 소리에 집중하고, 뇌와 손을 움직인다.
붉은 꽃잎은 중심에서 하나하나 잎이 달아지고, 붉은 덩어리의 형태로 그 잎과 모양은 크기를 달리하며 때로는 기쁘게 춤을 추기도, 때로는 울고, 때로는 숨을 고르고 잔잔히 화면 안에 부서지고 피어 오른다.
선 하나하나에 힘을 싣고 마음을 싣는다.
때로는 억울함에 눈물 나게 서러울 때도, 기쁨과 감사로 춤을 출 때도, 때로는 무기력과 아픔으로 싸워야 할 때도, 그 모든 감성과 열정을 담아 한획 한획 빠르게 또는 느리게 화면을 채우고 지우기를 반복한다.
그리고 생각과 마음을 선과 색으로 단련 시킨다.
그 과정가운데 나의 정신과 마음은 표면 위에 부유하던 일상의 덧없음을 지나 진정한 나의 마음과 정신이 만나고, 그 붓끝에 나의 몸과 마음을 맡기게 된다.
화면 위에서 어느새 붉은 생명이 꿈틀대고 걸음을 재촉하는 나의 영혼의 모습도,
신의 메시지를 발견하게 된다.
이러한 드로잉은 나의 호흡이며 나의 사랑이며 강력한 나의 영혼의 노래인 것이다.
사람은 매일을 살아간다.
매일을 살아가는 먹는 것, 입는 것 그 모든 것 에서 진정 우리를 살아가게 하는 힘은 무엇일까?
우리가 가지고 있는 살아간다는 것의 힘은 이러한 열정과 소망 그리고 사랑이라는 거대하고 아름다운 생명의 에너지가 우리를 이끌고 있다는 것을 작품을 하면서 강하게 체험할 수 있었다.
그것을 매일의 시간을 살리는 것, 그리고 살아나게 하는 것이 나의 드로잉의 행위이며 붉은 꽃 속에 생명의 진정성을 만나고, 그것을 정신과 육체가운데 담아내고자 하는 소망하며, 매일의 몸부림일 것이다.
그리고 그러한 진정성에 일체됨을 느낄 때 살아있음을 확인하고 또 내일을 살아갈 수 있는 강한 삶의 힘임을 확인한다.

Landscape of fire
The base of my work starts from the abstract adaptation of nature.
The nature as a pure and countless message of God becomes symbol and the vividness and abundance of the landscape turn into the subject matter of my artwork.
The subject matter of this artwork, the red flower symbolizes the struggle of a spirit and blooming of a life.
Also the stuggle of a living man, the light of a life and the fire of a spirit… I want to call it love.
The red flower, this energy of life is not the subject, but the strong desire and hope of a life that it wants to become; sometimes like landscape and energy of vivid living spirit
The work of the red flower started from a small drawing.
When I first encountered Korean painting, I began to draw chrysanthemums with Indian ink.
Drawing flowers was the subject of the most basic and repetitive practice, from which I was able to study the figure and shape of chrysanthemums and learn the basics and attitude of a painter.
After 20 years, the start of the work on this flame, which is different from my usual style, began with the memory of my hand drawing the flowers.
I found one of my drawings ? a variation of drawing chrysanthemums, a red colored lump that resembles a flower shape ? hung on the wall at my friend’s, whom I have not seen in a long time. The inattentively drawn red-colored pen drawing, which I did not realize she had, made the passion for the new work revive in my heart like a new sprout in spring.
I started everyday by calming myself down and standing again before picture through act of drawing flowers.
I slowly did the drawing, putting my passion and love in red color, and my ideal and mindset in sky blue color. By doing so, I started awakening the life of my own spirit.
Everyday before the picture, I concentrated on the sound of my heart and moved my brain and hand.
The red flower petals are attached one by one from the center. The petals and shape, varying in the form of a red lump, sometimes joyfully dance, weep, slowly breathe and even shatter then rise in the picture.
I put my strength and mind in every brushstroke.
When I feel tearfully sad for injustice, or when I dance for joy and thanksgiving, and sometimes even when I have to fight against lethargy and sickness, I fill the picture with one stroke and another quickly or slowly, putting all my sentiment and passion, and erase.. and repeat it.
In the course of doing that, my mind and heart meet my true mind and heart passing the transience of everyday life that has floated on the surface, and I leave my body and mind to the tip of the brush.
I find the red life already moving around in the picture and my spirit hurry on her way.
I find God’s message.
Such drawing is my breath, my love, and the powerful songs of my spirit.
Men live everyday.
What would be the power that truly makes us live among eating, clothing, and other things that we live with every day?
During the work I was able to strongly experience that it is the enormous and beautiful energy of life named passion, hope, and love that leads our life.
Being able to keep each moment in my life alive, comes from drawing. Inside the red flower, I see pure life, and I want to fill this into my body and mind. For this desire, I continuously struggle for it everyday.
When my body and mind become one with the pure life, I will realize that I am alive and live tomorrow with the strong power of life.
